About PaycheckCalc
A free, transparent paycheck calculator built for American workers.
Our Mission
PaycheckCalc was built with one goal: give every American worker a fast, accurate way to understand their take-home pay. Too many people are surprised on payday because they don't know how federal taxes, state taxes, Social Security, and Medicare interact to reduce their gross paycheck.
We believe financial clarity is a right, not a privilege. Whether you're negotiating a new salary, deciding whether to take a job in another state, or just trying to budget for the month — you deserve accurate numbers, for free.
What We Calculate
- Federal Income Tax — using the official 2024 IRS tax brackets and standard deductions
- State Income Tax — accurate rates and brackets for all 50 states
- Social Security — 6.2% on wages up to the $168,600 wage base
- Medicare — 1.45% on all wages (plus 0.9% additional Medicare surtax on high earners)
- Child Tax Credit — $2,000 per qualifying dependent, reducing federal tax liability
Who Built This?
PaycheckCalc is an independent project built by developers who were tired of clunky, ad-heavy paycheck calculators that required creating an account just to get a number. We keep it simple, accurate, and free.
Data Sources
Our tax rates are sourced from the IRS and state Department of Revenue publications for tax year 2024. We update our data each year to reflect new brackets, standard deductions, and FICA wage bases.
Important Disclaimer
PaycheckCalc is designed for informational and educational purposes only. The results are estimates and do not account for local/city taxes, state SDI/SUI contributions, pre-tax deductions (401k, HSA, FSA, health insurance premiums), or post-tax deductions.
